If you’re struggling to finish the ACT reading section, you have two areas to improve: your reading and your problem management.
Both can be accelerated without a loss of accuracy. For the reading itself, you only need to understand main idea, purpose, general plot, and tone. You don’t need to remember the details, because you’re going to want to search for them in the passage later anyhow. Just skim the passage and read through it quickly enough to get the main gist, then dive right into the questions. And for the questions, it’s essential that you force yourself to work under sped-up conditions, focus on elimination instead of selection, and learn to disregard the common errors that the ACT puts into its reading section answers.
