Online ACT and SAT Test Prep System › Forums › ACT Prep › I’m super nervous before my tests. Last time I took the ACT my nerves got the best of me. I got a 30 when my practice tests had me getting so much more! How can I relax?
1Sorry to hear that you are a bit nervous right before the test! This is actually a common occurrence in the week leading up to “the big day,” and it always has to do with the same thing: fatigue!
Students usually push themselves the few days before the test, which seems like the right thing to do, but which is actually a counterproductive measure. This week, the name of the game is R&R.
With that in mind, it’s important that you spend the next few days getting plenty of rest, relaxing like crazy, LOWERING your daily commitment to your studying, eating like a king, and pushing off any and all stressful projects and events. Try getting 8+ hours of sleep a night and REDUCE the amount of work you do, and make sure to spend some time each night reading stupid magazines, watching Netflix, etc. – you’ve learned an incredible amount in the last few weeks/months, and now it’s time to let it settle and assimilate, and to recharge your brain’s ability to function.
