Most schools recommend that you take the SAT & ACT your junior year for a VERY flawed reason: they think that you’ll need the stuff you learn freshman, sophomore, and junior year to do well on these tests. Nothing could be further from the truth. First of all, the few grammar rules and math facts you’ll learn in high school that apply to these tests can be learned in HOURS, not years – there’s a very specific, predictable set of material on the SAT and ACT and it doesn’t take long to learn it! Secondly, if you wait until junior year, you will FORGET a lot more than you’ll learn! Tons of the stuff tested on these exams (remainders, fractions, how to use commas, etc.) is taught in grade school and middle school – so while you might be learning a few new rules in high school, you’ll also be forgetting a lot of the stuff you need to know! The earlier you start, the better. For a full, free guide on why you should start as early as humanly possible: https://greentestprep.com/resources/for-parents/when-to-get-started/
