Students who start prepping for the SAT and ACT during their sophomore year are at a huge advantage: they can study for very little time per day and still finish all of their test prep before things “heat up” during their junior year and beyond. My recommendation: try working for 20-40 minutes a day, broken into chunks, starting as soon as possible, and take a practice test every 4-6 weeks to gauge your progress. As soon as you hit your target scores during your practice tests, register for an official exam and a backup and get the entire process out of the way!
